Back playing in the Bradshaw Mtns. Days have varied from the 80′s to the 30′s with snow. Great fresh air, exercise and gold. We have been testing various parts of this locale.
There was a patch of nuggets I located while detecting on a slope of red clay. Testing the clay with a recirculator however showed no fines or small gold.
Detecting has produced some finds every day. A few larger pieces and many smaller flakes and nuggets. Using an 8″ coil on the GPX5000 has worked very well here.
Drywashing has been tough. The ground is wet and we have had to lay our material out on tarps and dry it. Although slow, it has been very rewarding. Hard work, tough bedrock, vacumning and sweeping the whole way. Every run has been good to us. Makes it worth the rough ride in. The last road is 3.7 miles and takes 45 minutes to negotiate. One rough road for sure.
Been at camp for about 3 weeks now. Keep telling myself I should check in at home but cannot bring myself to leave. Guess I’ll just hang out until something forces me to leave. Hardly ever see a vehicle or person in the area we are working. Great. The world and it’s troubles just doesn’t exist here.
Range cattle, coyotes, javelinas, road runners and scorpions are all I’ve seen. Too chilly still for the rattlesnakes to be active.
As a reminder, be sure to join American Prospectors Club as a Founding Member before September 1, 2011 and your annual cost will never increase as long as you remain active.
Here’s a few more pics of the fun (hard work) we are having.
